Welcome to the Open Christmas Thanet website!

A Little About Open Christmas

Thanet Churches Open Christmas, a celebration of Christmas, has been running since 1997 and can only run thanks to the help of the many volunteers and donors who generously give to make this fantastic event happen. It was started by a local church member who gathered together groups from various churches and together they started to put on this event to share the love of Jesus.

Providing a warm welcome filled with the joy of Christmas - a prayer & short reflection, a wonderful meal, friendship and carols - for those who would otherwise find it difficult to have such a celebration. This year we hope to serve 100 guests, hosted by 30 volunteers on Christmas Day & Boxing Day - a time when essential services don't happen.

During the week of Open Christmas they are supported by a team of volunteers from local churches and from the wider community.

Important Notice

Thank you to all who have volunteered for Thanet Churches Open Christmas in the last few years. Volunteer numbers are limited to 30 per day.
